Searching for a church–
Duty to God-
If you are looking for a church home let me invite you to come and see for yourself our church and meet the saints which make up our congregation. Come and see and hear the preaching of the word of the Gospel, it’s from the Bible and we preach Jesus Christ from Genesis to Revelation.
Let me be forthright and blunt. That is what we do. We preach, pray and sing about Jesus Christ. We are here to glorify His name and proclaim His name for the Grace which was bestowed upon men because He loved us.
We do not entertain, we glorify His name. We are a no frills church but thrilled because He saved us. It is an undeserved gift from God to undeserving sinners, called Grace.
Just as the early New Testament church was a collection of believers so too are we and we meet to worship and this includes men, women and children. All together in one body, the body of Christ; to all learn, serve and grow in sanctification – set apart from the world. Women witness their husbands worship and giving glory to God and know from where all righteousness flows; husbands see their wives and children learn what Christ has done for them; men see their wives coming to serve, honor and glorify God and both are there together to show this to their children, teaching their children how to behave and respect God and others and the children see their parents loving, honoring and serving God which is the role God has set before us.
Duty of members-
We as a church family are also there in the times of need and wants of our members and members of the community. We pray for one another, we try and help when others are having hard times no matter the cause. We fellowship together every Sunday after church eating lunch and catching up on our lives with one another. We love one another and seek to share all.
What you won’t hear-
Are you scared of going to Hell? Has someone else told you, you are going to hell unless you do something? Pay something? Accept something? Believe some particular way? Been baptized?
You won’t hear such things at Palm Bethel. We have no personal knowledge of where other’s ultimate destination lies. That’s God’s prerogative, not man’s.
You won’t hear us do any “soul saving”. There is nothing a person can do to be eternally saved. One is saved by God. Read John 3:8. Grace and mercy from God determines one’s final destination. But the reverse is also true. Once a person is saved [born again, regenerated] they are always [eternally] saved. There is nothing anybody, including oneself, can do to lose their eternal salvation. John 10:28-29.
[Let me tell you something else. If you are concerned about your destiny whether heaven or hell you probably aren’t going to hell. Why? Because those who are not saved those who are not part of God’s family have no desire to know spiritual things. They are content with what the world provides and have no desire to know about God. For those who are concerned of spiritual things they show evidence of being born again.
This is not something you do to get; it’s something you get to do! Carefully read John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth [wherever it wants to go the wind goes there], and thou hearest the sound thereof, [you can hear the wind, you can see the results of wind] but canst not tell whence it cometh,[where it comes from] and whither it goeth [where it goes]: so is every one that is born of the Spirit [God chooses who receives the Holy Spirit in the new birth, not the will of man. Romans 9:15-16 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
To believe anything else denies the Sovereignty of God, that He can’t do what He wants without our help. He doesn’t need our help.
To believe anything else would deny eternal life to those who cannot choose; Babies, people who never hear the word preached, those mentally handicapped. To believe anything else would mean a Holy, sinless God needs sinful, disobedient men to save others.
Then why preach?
To proclaim the love that God has for His people. To let them know they are not lost. Are not forgotten. That God has redeemed them from their Sin. To let them know that He sent His only begotten Son to save us and present us to Him, redeemed, justified, free of Sin. 2 Timothy 1:9-10 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
The Gospel is not a roadmap to heaven but a guide for life in the here-and-now.
Finally, for the hard headed out there-
Those who say they can’t or won’t go to church because they are too big a sinner, or you don’t know what I’ve done in my life and thnk God can’t or won’t forgive them. Get over yourself. You aren’t alone. You haven’t done nor could you do anything that God won’t forgive. God has forgiven servants of His that have committed all manner of sin up to and including murder. (I invite you to read all about them. Their stories are in the Bible.) They were forgiven. You are forgiven. The God who created the universe and gave natural life also gives us spiritual life and not only that sent His only begotten son to save them which were lost — condemned because of Sin.
